Voice collection overview

Collect voice submissions through a branded web recorder, review them privately in the Voice inbox, and decide what to use before anything is published.

Collect voice submissions in a private, branded workflow

Use voice collection to invite your audience to send recordings from their phone or computer, receive each submission in a private Voice inbox, and decide with your team what to keep, review, or use later. Nothing becomes public automatically, so you stay in control from the first recording to the final decision.

Before you start

  • Voice collection must be enabled for your account.
  • Start with a clear sense of who you want to hear from and what you want to ask them.
  • Dafado and Magyar Minute are current users of the recorder.

What is voice collection

Budapest.fm gives you a branded web recorder that works in a supported browser on a phone or computer. No app is required, which makes it easier to invite listeners, members, contributors, or guests to send audio without extra setup.

Each submission arrives in a private Voice inbox with automatic transcription on arrival. The inbox includes the recording, transcript, source details, consent state, notes, review status, and team decisions, so your team can assess each submission in one place.

The Voice inbox is separate from your shows and episodes. No submission becomes public automatically.

How it works

Automatic transcription for Voice submissions

Voice guest submissions follow their own transcription workflow. When a recording arrives through voice collection, Budapest.fm starts transcription automatically as part of the Voice submission process.

This behaviour is specific to Voice submissions. Standard episode uploads do not use this automatic-on-arrival Voice workflow, so do not assume both upload types are processed the same way.

What happens next

Once your recorder is set up, you can start inviting people to submit recordings straight away. As responses arrive, your team can review them privately in the Voice inbox, check transcript and consent details, and decide what to do with each one.

That gives you a controlled way to collect audience voices before you move anything into a wider editorial or production workflow.

Privacy and billing

  • The Voice inbox is private.
  • No submission becomes public automatically.
  • Consent state is tracked for each submission.
  • Automatic transcription happens on arrival for Voice submissions only.

Troubleshooting

I do not see Voice collection

Voice collection must be enabled for your account before the recorder and Voice inbox appear. If you do not see them, the feature has not been turned on for your account.

The Voice inbox is empty

Start by checking that your recorder is set up and that you have shared the invitation with the right audience. If nobody has submitted a recording yet, the Voice inbox will remain empty.

Submissions are not being transcribed

Voice submissions use their own automatic transcription workflow, so transcription should begin after a recording arrives. Allow time for processing, then check the submission again in the Voice inbox. If the recording came through a standard episode upload instead of voice collection, that Voice-specific transcription rule does not apply.
