Create a reusable voice with consent
Build a reusable AI narration voice from designed previews or a consented clone, with clear credit costs, privacy controls, and consent rules.
Build a reusable voice for AI narration
Create a reusable voice in AI Studio either by auditioning designed voice previews or by making a consented instant clone from a speaker's audio. Your saved voice can then be used for narration work in AI Studio, while drafts stay private until you review and approve them.
Before you start
- You need an active Budapest.fm account.
- You need AI credits in your balance. Hosting plans include monthly credits: Solo 250, Slate 1,000, and Syndicate 3,000. These reset monthly.
- You can also buy prepaid credit packs of 500, 2,000, and 6,000 credits from the pricing page. Prepaid credits do not expire.
- Voice ownership or explicit speaker permission is required before creating any voice.
- AI tools appear only when AI features are enabled for your account.
Two ways to create a voice
Choose the path that matches how much control you need over the source voice.
Designed voice previews let you audition voice options before saving one for reuse. Three designed voice previews cost 75 credits.
Use this option when you want a polished AI narration voice without recording a specific speaker. It is the better fit when you are exploring different styles and want to compare options before deciding.
A consented instant clone creates a reusable voice from a speaker's audio. A consented instant clone costs 100 credits.
Use this option when you need the narration to reflect a specific speaker and you have voice ownership or explicit speaker permission. Consent is required before you create the clone.
Create a reusable voice
Follow the same core flow for both methods. The main difference is whether you audition designed previews or create a clone from speaker audio.
Open AI Studio
Open AI Studio from your Budapest.fm workspace and go to the voice creation flow.
If AI Studio tools do not appear, check that AI features are enabled for your account before you continue.
Choose to create a voice
Start a new voice creation task from within AI Studio. You will then choose whether to work from designed previews or from a consented clone.
At this point, you are setting up a reusable voice for future narration, not publishing an episode.
Select your voice method
Pick the option that matches your goal.
- Choose designed voice previews if you want to audition voice options.
- Choose consented instant clone if you want to create a voice from a speaker's audio.
Confirm consent if you are cloning a voice
If you choose a consented instant clone, confirm that you have voice ownership or explicit speaker permission before you continue.
You are responsible for making sure the speaker has agreed to this use. If you cannot confirm that permission, do not create the voice.
Review the credit quote
Check the quoted cost before processing starts.
- Three designed voice previews cost 75 credits.
- A consented instant clone costs 100 credits.
AI Studio shows the cost before the action runs, so you can confirm the charge before proceeding.
Confirm and process
Confirm the action to begin processing.
Credits are reserved first, committed only after successful processing, and returned after failed work. If the action does not complete successfully, the reserved credits are given back.
Review the result
Listen to the created voice and decide whether it is ready to keep in your library.
A successful result gives you a reusable voice that you can select later for AI narration work.
Consent and permission
Voice ownership or explicit speaker permission is required before creating any voice. That applies whether you are working from a designed workflow that results in a saved reusable voice or from a consented instant clone tied to a specific speaker.
In practice, this means you should only create a voice if the voice is yours to use or the speaker has clearly agreed to that use. You are responsible for having that consent before you begin processing.
If you are creating a clone from someone else's audio, make sure the permission covers the creation of the AI voice itself and its use in narration. If you cannot confirm that, stop before creating the voice.
What happens next
Once created, the voice is available in your AI Studio voice library for future narration work. You can select it again without repeating the same creation step each time.
Any draft narration you generate with that voice stays private until you review and approve it. Nothing publishes automatically.

Troubleshooting
I cannot create a voice
Start by checking whether AI features are enabled for your account. If AI Studio tools are hidden, the voice creation flow will not be available.
Next, check your AI credit balance. Voice creation needs available credits before processing can begin.
The voice sounds wrong
If you used designed voice previews, try different options and compare the results before saving a voice. That route is intended for auditioning, so it is normal to test more than one style before you decide.
If you created a consented clone, review the source audio you used. Poor recording quality, background noise, or unclear speech can affect how accurately the cloned voice is recognised.
Consent was not confirmed
Voice ownership or explicit speaker permission is required before creating a voice. You must confirm consent before creating a voice.
If you cannot confirm that permission, do not continue with the clone. Get clear approval first, then return to AI Studio and start the process again.
