Create and review a translated edition
Produce a private translated edition for an uploaded episode, confirm the credit quote, pair it correctly, and approve it before publication.
Create a private translated edition for an uploaded episode
Produce a translated edition from your existing episode, review the result in the private workspace, and approve it only when it is ready. The translated draft stays private while you check the content, complete pairing, and decide whether to publish.
Before you start
- You need at least one episode with audio uploaded.
- You need AI credits in your balance. Each plan includes a monthly allowance: 250 on Solo, 1,000 on Slate, and 3,000 on Syndicate. You can add prepaid credits from the pricing page.
- Standard episode uploads are opt-in for AI processing.
- You see and confirm the exact credit quote before any processing starts.
- An Episode Copy Pack in the original language may be needed first. The original-language Episode Copy Pack costs 50 credits, and each additional language costs 40 credits.
What is a translated edition
A translated edition is a translated version of your episode content produced inside the private episode workspace. It gives you a separate draft in another language that you can review before approving anything.
A translated edition is not published automatically. Drafts remain private until reviewed and approved.
Before publication, translated content must be paired with its alternate-language counterpart. Pairing connects the related editions so they can be published correctly as language variants of the same episode.
Create a translated edition
Open the episode
Open the episode you want to translate from your episode list. Start from the episode that already has audio uploaded and is eligible for AI processing.
You are in the right place when you can access the private episode workspace for that episode.
Enter the private workspace
Go into the private episode workspace where production assets are created and reviewed. This workspace is where translated drafts are generated and checked before approval.
Success looks like a private editing area for the episode, not a public episode page.
Choose to create a translated edition
Select the option to create a translated edition for the episode. Use the translation flow from the existing episode rather than creating a separate public item.
If the option is unavailable, check the troubleshooting section later on this page.
Select the target language
Choose the language you want to produce for this episode. Make sure the selected language matches the audience you want to reach before you continue.
The new draft will be created as an additional language edition linked to the same episode workflow.
Review the credit quote
Check the quoted credit cost before you confirm processing. Each additional language costs 40 credits.
If the original-language Episode Copy Pack has not been created yet, account for that cost as well. The original-language pack costs 50 credits.
Confirm and start processing
Confirm the quoted cost to start translation processing. Processing does not publish anything automatically.
After you confirm, wait for the translated draft to appear in the private workspace.
Review the translated content
Read through the translated draft carefully before approval. Check names, terminology, structure, and any language-specific phrasing that needs adjustment.
Your review is complete when the translated edition is accurate, clearly written, and ready to pair with its counterpart.
Pair the translated edition with its counterpart
Pair the translated edition with its alternate-language counterpart before publication. Without pairing, the translated content cannot be published as part of the episode.
In practice, this means you need both related editions available in the private workspace and then complete the pairing step between them. Check that the original-language edition and the translated edition both exist, then connect them as alternate-language versions of the same episode.
Complete pairing before final approval if you plan to publish the translated version. This keeps the language relationship organised and prevents an unpaired draft from blocking publication.
What happens next
After pairing and approval, the translated edition is attached to the episode as its alternate-language version. You can then continue your normal review and publication workflow from the private workspace.
Drafts remain private until reviewed and approved. Nothing publishes automatically at any stage of the translation process.
If the translated edition uses AI-voiced audio, only the edition that is actually AI voiced is labelled that way. A non-AI-voiced counterpart is not labelled as AI voiced.
Billing and privacy
- Each additional language costs 40 credits.
- You confirm the exact credit quote before processing starts.
- The workspace stays private while you review the translated edition.
- Translated content is not published until it has been paired with its counterpart and approved.
Troubleshooting
The translated edition is not paired
A translated edition must be paired with its alternate-language counterpart before publication. If pairing has not been completed, the translated draft cannot move forward to publication.
Check that both editions exist in the private workspace. Then complete the pairing step so the original-language edition and translated edition are recognised as counterparts.
The translation did not generate
Processing can take a little time, especially if the workspace has not refreshed yet. Wait briefly, then refresh the workspace and check again for the translated draft.
If the draft still does not appear, check whether the quoted credits were deducted. If no deduction happened, the process may not have started successfully.
I do not see the translation option
AI features may not be enabled for that episode. Standard episode uploads are opt-in for AI processing, so the translation option may stay unavailable until AI processing is enabled.
Check that the episode has uploaded audio and that AI processing is available for the episode you opened. If the episode is eligible and the option still does not appear, review your current setup and credits before trying again.
